Gamma Holding's result
Turnover in the first four months of 2001 was slightly up on the corresponding period of last year. However, because of market trends in the United States and other factors, margins were under pressure, particularly in the Industrial Textiles sector, and this resulted in a decline in operating income.
A programme of measures has since been launched to improve the result by managing the level of costs.
In view of the uncertainty surrounding worldwide economic developments in the rest of the year it is not possible, as already indicated by the Board of Managing Directors, to issue a specific forecast for income in 2001. Based upon our present understanding, we expect that the result for the year 2001 as a whole will remain below last year's level (before extraordinary expenses).
